ABOUT SWEETWATER COUNTY, WYOMING

Community Profile

 

                Sweetwater County (see the map Click here) is located in the southwestern part of county in Wyoming with 60 miles of its border touching the states of Utah and Colorado. The county consists of 10,497 square  miles.

              The two largest cities in the county are Rock Springs and Green River. These two cities are separated by about 12 miles and are supportive of each others economies.

 Sweetwater County is the most industrialized county in the Wyoming. Over half of the workforce is employed by industry, principally mining, petroleum, power generation and related services. A variety of national and international corporations operate out of Sweetwater County enjoying its great access to transportation, dedicated workforce, positive tax environment and low cost and abundant reliable utilities.

                Residents are very proud of its services offered. Western Wyoming Community College is located in Rock Springs with a satellite campus at Green River. The library systems are excellent, along with a Fine Arts Center and two museums. Sweetwater County has fine health care services such as hospital, nursing facilities, senior centers, and rehabilitation centers

Recreational opportunities are abundant with two indoor centers in Rock Springs and one indoor center in Green River.  A golf course is located in each community. Green River has developed a White Water Park on the river that has drawn attention of kayakers nationally.

                Really the wild horses and antelope roam within our boundaries along with deer, elk, moose and many other birds and animals!
